Spend the day outside reliving life in the 1800’s. Or, journey back in Indiana history through interactive exhibits and immersive learning. Indianapolis offers two of the most progressive history experiences in the country with Conner Prairie Interactive History Park and the Indiana History Center. Your kids will be having too much fun to realize they just might be learning something.
Conner Prairie Interactive History Park takes visitors to a living pioneer village, a Lenape Indian camp and 350 feet into the air (via the 1859 Balloon Voyage). The park also plays host to the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and their "Symphony on the Prairie" series all summer long.
The Indiana History Center offers unique ways of getting to know the city of Indianapolis and the state of Indiana. Listen to crooning in the Cole Porter Room or use interactive touch screens to explore the history of Monument Circle. Or, let the Indiana Experience take you back through Indiana’s past.
Indianapolis offers plenty to do after a day of attractions. A surrey, available for rental in White River State Park, is ideal for families wanting to explore. Enjoy family-friendly dining at one of more than 200 downtown restaurants. And, a trip to Indianapolis isn’t complete without visiting Monument Circle in the heart of the city.
