Teams from across the United States, Taiwan and France will descend on Indianapolis for the World Series. The RHI Indy Thunder team placed seventh in the 2009 Beep Baseball World Series.
"We have had beep baseball exhibitions prior to Indianapolis Indians games and were always inspired by the commitment to and love of baseball that was demonstrated by the players," said Max Schumacher, Chairman of the Board and President of the Indianapolis Indians. "We look forward to helping welcome participants and supporters to their 2011 tournament and are confident they will enjoy their Indianapolis experience."
Beep baseball is a highly skilled, competitive game created in 1964 for athletes with visual disabilities and has greatly evolved over the past 20 years. Six players are in the outfield while the batter is pitched a beeping ball. Once the ball is hit, one of two bases begins to buzz and the batter must run to that base.
