Why Choose Indy
Planning Resources
Home of the 23rd president, this three-story Italianate mansion features Victorian furnishings including many original Harrison pieces. Changing exhibits depict Harrison's life as Indiana's only elected president, his many accomplishments, family and the Victorian era. A recent Save America's Treasures grant allowed for museum's return to original decor. Features an elevator for access to all three floors, and tour includes reconstructed two-story carriage house "old red barn" as it stood behind the president's house in 1888. Groups can reserve an evening for a Civil War Dinner, an interactive experience with "General Benjamin Harrison" and other characters featuring wine, hors d'oeuvres and a full dinner.
Twice each year, "Candlelight Theatre" is offered featuring 19th-century and early 20th-century plays with the historic home providing a one-of-a-kind stage. This is a rare opportunity to present a variety of theatre genres that rotate the audience through the sacred space of a President's home, showcasing antique Harrison collectibles and furnishings. "Candlelight Theatre" offers theatrical experiences that carefully weave entertainment and experience with education.
Educational programs, special events, and family offerings including "Live from Delaware Street" are offered throughout the year at this National Historic Landmark.
One-hour, guided tours are offered every 30 minutes 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Mon-Sat. year-round. Also on Sundays in June and July, tours offered from 12:30-3:30 p.m. The Harrison Home will be closed Indy 500 Parade and Race days, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Day.
