The Indianapolis Children's Choir is one of the largest children's choirs in the world, and the 2010-2011 season marks its 25th year. Young people representing 19 counties are enrolled in a variety of programs from pre-school through 12th grade. Children can participate in one of the 15 different performing choirs beginning in 4th grade. Through the years, these choirs have performed with a myriad of dignitaries and entertainers, at civic and community functions - and on six continents! Founder and Artistic Director Henry Leck is an expert in children's choral music and boys' changing voice, and is Professor of Choral Activities at Butler University where the ICC offices reside. Director of Education Ruth Dwyer is a renowned choral clinician and director who travels around the country as a guest speaker.
The First Steps in Music program, designed for children 18 months-5 years, holds classes at Butler throughout the year as well as in various area pre-schools. The Everyone C.O.U.N.T.S. (Community Outreach Uniting Through Song) program allows financially and geographically disadvantaged children to experience quality music education with financial assistance and the regional choir program.
The choir is also available for private and corporate performances.
