Housed in a historic, architecturally-notable German cultural center, the Rathskeller (Indianapolis' oldest restaurant) has been in operation since 1894, and still serves such traditional Germanic fare as Sauerbraten and Schnitzel (along with such less-traditional fare as grilled yellowfin tuna and shrimp scampi). Beer lovers will find much to love on the drink menu, as the restaurant's biergarten offers brews and microbrews from Germany, Europe, the U.K. and North America.
