The Indianapolis Indians are a professional Triple-A baseball team affiliated with the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Indians play their home games at Victory Field in downtown Indianapolis, a 14,500-seat ballpark that has received numerous local and national accolades. Since its opening in July of 1996 the ballpark has hosted more than nine million attendees for Indians games and other community events. The venue has been named "Best Minor League Ballpark in America" by several national sports media and is located just west of the Indiana Convention Center & Lucas Oil Stadium. Ticket prices are $8-$14. The Indians baseball season runs from April through Labor Day weekend.
Indianapolis will celebrate the 125th year of professional baseball in Indy in 2011. The Indians are Indianapolis' first professional sports team. Professional baseball has been played in Indianapolis since 1887. The Indians have won 23 championships and have produced twelve Hall of Famers including Harmon Killebrew, Grover Cleveland Alexander and Al Lopez. Nearly 100 former Indians played in the Majors in 2009 including Randy Johnson, Paul Konerko and Andrew McCutchen. AX, DIS, MC, V
