Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum

Originally conceived as a test track for local automakers, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway opened in 1909. Two years later, the oval hosted its first 500-mile race, forever linking Indianapolis' name with the spirit of competition.

Today, the Hall of Fame Museum houses one of the world's largest collection of race cars (including more than 30 past winners of the Indianapolis 500), as well as the famous Borg-Warner Trophy.

Bus tours around the oval are available year-round (except when the track is in use for testing or racing, because that could get awkward in a hurry).


Hours and Costs

Open daily except Thanksgiving and Christmas Days. Nov.-Feb., 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.; Mar.-Oct., 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Extended hours during race events.
