Pretentious
Ruth’s Chris Steak House is a restaurant chain based in New Orleans that operates two restaurants in Indianapolis. A recipient of the 2007 Wine Spectator Award for their extensive wine list, the restaurant serves a limited, unimaginative steak menu. While our fish was fresh and several presentations were very attractive, our salad lettuces were limp with bland dressing, and the chicken was dry. The restaurant is clean, but it is definitely the type of venue that lowers the lights and raises the prices. This is the place to take your boss when you want to convince him that you don’t need a raise. With the army of wait staff deployed, the service should have been superior – it wasn’t. Instead the waiters were condescending and intrusive. Overall, our impression of the restaurant was that it was pretentious, the over-priced food was only average, and the service was phony. Dining at Ruth’s Chris shows a certain lack of imagination or adventure, but may appeal to tired travelers looking for the consistency of a national chain. However, Indianapolis has many better dining offerings.

Top Notch
I will definitely be back to visit this Ruth's Chris Steak House. From the warm greeting at the host stand to the outstanding service and food throughout our experience, everything was perfect. We decided to sit in the bar to enjoy the atmosphere. We ordered off of the 'Prime Time' menu, and for $35 had way more food then we could handle - what a deal. Everything was cooked perfectly and the entire staff made us feel comfortable and at "home." I was in town as a business traveler, but the next time I am in Indianapolis I will make sure to visit this Ruth's Chris.
