Special Events and Exhibits:

Tutankhamun: The Golden King and the Great Pharaohs
The Children's Museum of Indianapolis
June 27-October 25

This blockbuster exhibit will feature the largest image of King Tut ever found - a 10-foot statue that may have originally stood at his mortuary temple and retains much of its original paint, one of four gold and precious-stone-inlaid canopic jars and CT scans of Tut's mummy. Many of these artifacts have never visited the United States. Besides artifacts related to Tutankhamun, the exhibit will focus on the splendor of the Egyptian pharaohs, their function in the earthly and divine worlds, and what kingship meant to the Egyptian people. Over 100 treasures from the tomb of King Tut and other important rulers from 2,000 years of ancient Egyptian history will be on exhibit.

Walking with Dinosaurs
Conseco Fieldhouse
July 8-12

For 200 million years the dinosaurs ruled the earth. Now, they're back roaming the arenas of America in an extraordinary new theatrical production based on the award-winning BBC television series. Ten species are represented from the entire 200 million year reign of the dinosaurs. The show includes the Tyrannosaurus Rex, the terror of the ancient terrain, as well as the Plateosaurus and Liliensternus from the Triassic period, the Stegosaurus and Allosaurus from the Jurassic period and Torosaurus and Utahraptor from the awesome Cretaceous. The largest of them, the Brachiosaurus is 36 feet tall and 56 feet from nose to tail. It took a team of 50 – including engineers, fabricators, skin makers, artists and painters, and animatronics experts – a year to build the original production. Come live history and see the dinosaurs live!
