Special Exhibits:

Pistols: Dazzling Firearms
Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art
Through April 18

Get a glimpse of just how the west was won as the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art brings this impressive exhibit to Indianapolis this spring. Pistols: Dazzling Firearms gives museum goers a first-hand look at over 160 years of handgun artistry. The collection, on loan from the Museum of the American West, Autry National Center in Los Angeles, showcases handcrafted firearms that once belonged to Presidents Ronald Regan and John F. Kennedy and famous personalities like Annie Oakley and “Wild Bill” Hickock. There will also be added value programming in conjunction with the exhibit including appearances by Annie Oakley (costumed interpreter who will interact with guests about her encounters and life) and renowned firearm engravers.

With Malice Toward None: The Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Exhibition
Indiana State Museum
Through April 11

This spring at the Indiana State Museum, With Malice Toward None commemorates the 200th anniversary of the birth of the nation’s revered 16th president. More than a chronological account of the life of Abraham Lincoln, the exhibition reveals Lincoln the man, whose thoughts, words and actions were deeply affected by personal experiences and pivotal historic events. The exhibit will travel to just five U.S. cities and includes the Bible upon which Lincoln, and later President Barack Obama, took oath of office; the contents of his pocket from the night he was assassinated; plus documents and correspondence from his political career.

Multiple Musicals:

101 Dalmatians: The Musical
Clowes Memorial Hall
March 9-14

Broadway Across America is giving audiences 101 reasons to look forward to March this year as it brings one of Disney’s most beloved stories, 101 Dalmatians, to Indianapolis. The show, told through the dogs’ point of view, features some fine four-legged actors and is sure to have audiences leaving with their tails a-wagging!

Through March 21

The 1984 hit movie, Footloose, dances its way to life this year at Beef & Boards Dinner Theater. The story follows Ren McCormack, the big-city boy who shakes things up in a puritanical small town when he simply dares to dance.
